This is how we kept our promise to last year’s resident-led co-design action group

Say hello to Peabody’s Resident-led Panel known, for now, as the RLP. The RLP are a group of engaged residents who oversee resident engagement activity across Peabody. They’re our critical friends who support us to listen and act upon resident voices, at every level of the organisation. They challenge us to perform at our best, so we can improve the way residents experience Peabody.

How we got here

Last year, one of the Co-design Action Group's five recommendations was that we make a cultural commitment to resident engagement. One of the ways they said we should do this was by creating a Resident-Led Panel. We agreed. We openly recruited Danny, Denise, Elaine, Ingrid, Geraldine, John and Lisa to take on the mission. They’ll be supported by a wider group of engaged residents who are part of our online engaged community, Peabody Voice, so we capture diversity of thought across our geography.

A milestone moment

Last week, the RLP held its first formal meeting which covered:

  • Our new Additional Needs Policy and the importance of meaningfully engaging residents at the start of all policy consultations.
  • Discussing how we can gather resident feedback to evaluate the impact of the Local Peabody model.
  • How we’ll set up a Complaints Panel to review the way we respond to complaints through residents’ eyes.
  • A new vision for a Communications Panel who’ll review our communications approach, and make sure our messages are clear and simple, helpful and friendly, and easy to follow.

What's next

The panel will be meet again in the Autumn. They’ll hear from our Governance and Transformation teams, amongst others.

Between now and then, we’ll be working with them to really get to grips with what our insight tells us, we’ll keep the Resident Experience Committee updated, and involve them in planning our first ever resident conference!

Let’s do this together

The panel can’t do this alone. As we set up new panels to start hearing your voice in new ways, we’re going to need as many of you as possible to share your experiences, so we know that the recommendations we make about how Peabody can get better, reflect your diverse opinions.

You’ll be the first to know about new projects we’re working on that aim to hear your feedback and turn it into action.
