Thamesmead Urban Forest Strategy

As owners and managers of 65% of Thamesmead, Peabody has commissioned a strategy to support the development of a clear priority action plan for the long term protection, enhancement and expansion of the Thamesmead Urban Forest. The Thamesmead Urban Forest Strategy will be underpinned by Peabody’s Living in the Landscape Green Infrastructure framework as well as the London Urban Forest Plan, and will be developed through collaboration with their communities and partners.

As part of the Stakeholder Steering Group for the project, we would like to invite you to share your thoughts, comments and ideas on the work undertaken and to help shape the strategy as it develops.

  • Thamesmead Urban Forest Strategy

At the Stakeholder Inception Meeting held on 30th July 2025 where attendees discussed the challenges and opportunities that the Thamesmead Urban Forest Strategy presents. Discussions were focused on three themed questions:

    • Opportunities: What should the strategy look to deliver for the trees, wildlife and communities in Thamesmead?
    • Issues and Challenges: What do you think the key issues and challenges are in developing and delivering the strategy?
    • Data and information: What additional information and data do you think would be helpful for us to use in the shaping of the strategy?

We have captured what the participants responses were to three themed questions. These have been added to the ‘comments’ under each of the themes opposite.

If you were not able to attend, or if you have further contributions you would like to make to the discussions around these questions, please use the ‘comment’ function under each theme to add your thoughts.
